This is Chris Pine playing Captain Kirk in Star Trek. I used high pass. Sorry that the text tutorial was not used I didn't know what to do bc I didn't know you were talking about.

Grunge

This is the final image. I had to do so many new adjustment layers it's not even funny, but it was very easy. At the end I had to change the lighter curve because it was too dark.

high pass

I made two passes. The technique I did was very easy. I used the filter noise and others for it. I also changed the hue/saturation.

I used a lot of brushes in this one. I also used the polygonal lasso tool for the triangle thing above him. the flares are small brushes. and I made him pretty.
